Underage Drinking

ABRA has received three grants for the enforcement of underage drinking laws totaling just over one million dollars. Some of the sub-grantees include Metropolitan Police Department, National Capital Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking, and the Corporation Counsel. The enforcement is done in four stages:

  • Training ABRA staff, Metropolitan Police Department, and individuals used as under-age operatives
  • Publication of compliance checks to the public including business entities
  • Industry training
  • Compliance checks

A successful compliance check means that a business doesn't sell any alcoholic beverages to an under-age person.
